Melvin D. Smith 46 of Neptune passed away December 28, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by his beloved
family. He was born March 18, 1975 to the late Phyliss Tolbert andWilliam Tolbert in Neptune, NJ.
He was a graduate of Asbury Park High School.Melvin was employed by the City of Asbury Park as a Crossing Guard
on Lake Ave. & Ridge Ave. The girls from the school loved and adoredhim, they felt safe when he was around.
Melvin was a gentle giant he could light up a room with his infectionssmile. He loved his wife and children and all he came in contact with.To know him is to love him. He was a man full of life.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shallcleave unto his wife and the two shall become one flesh Gen 2:24.Melvin joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Toni Thomastheir love is unbreakable.Melvin along with wife where members of Mt. Melvin and he was a member of the Male Chorus.Melvin was predeceased by his mother Phyliss and sister Keisha Smith.Melvin leaves to cherish his his memories his beloved wife of 18 vearsToni Thomas-Smith, his father William Tolbert; 5 children Jordan Smith,Aniyah Carpenter, Sy' Charles Thomas, McKayla Carpenter, and TaylorCarpenter; 3 sisters Kamesha (Kojo) Byrd, April Council and 4 brothersChristopher (Alisha) Smith, Anthony (Shree) Smith, Atoro (Nieasha)Barnes, and Joe Barnes and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives,and friends.
