Melvin Henry Maddox affectionately known as “Butch” was born on January 22,1948 in Allentown, NJ, where he was placed in the foster care system. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hazlet, NJ.
Melvin attended Allentown School District and graduated from Allentown High School.
Immediately after graduated he joined the Army in 1967. He served in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. He was honorably discharged in 1991.
Melvin was previously employed at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital in Marlboro, NJ, Brockway Glass in Freehold, NJ and eventually retired from Covered Bridge in Manalapan, NJ. He held various other positions before his retirement.
He will be remembered for his love of martial arts. He was also known for his dry humor and sense of adventure. He was truly a jack of all trades. If you thought of something Melvin could do it.
He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Koreeli Gibbs-Maddox of New Jersey and Hope Gibbs-Maddox of North Carolina; two step- sons, Eric Gibbs of Pennsylvania and Jason Gibbs of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Armani Corsello and Chanel Brady and a host of other relatives and friends.
